After researching and testing the best paper towels on the market, our favorite paper towel is the Kirkland Signature Premium Create-a-Size (available at Costco) because of its ease of use, soft texture, and unparalleled cleaning ability. However, there were many excellent products we found in our testing.
Last but certainly not least, we paid attention to the smaller, subjective details that make certain paper towels more enjoyable to use than others. This includes ease of tearing (because everyone loathes that piece at the bottom after an uneven tear), texture, softness, and overall ease of use.
Same thing with toilet paper, if it takes you a big wad of toilet paper (say 10 sheets) to accomplish the same thing that three sheets of another brand can do, this can really impact your price per use on your household goods. Paper towels are made from a mix of wood pulp, mild adhesives that help multi-layer paper towels stay together, and conditioning products that adjust the strength or flexibility of the paper. Because so many towel types are used on skin or in the hospitality industry, all the adhesives and other products used in these types of paper towels are non-toxic and usually biodegradable.
For front-of-house settings like hotel lobbies, restaurants, or even venues like gyms, paper towels are often embossed to make them look more attractive.
